From the think tank at ORION: “vibepad” nominated for “German Design Award 2022
It has already made some people happy and comes from the think tank at ORION – now it has been nominated for the “German Design Award 2022”: the “vibepad”. The radio-controlled, anatomically perfectly shaped seat cushion looks like a mouse pad. But here the rule is: sit on it, switch it on and enjoy!
The “vibepad” is a sexual wellness product that creates a completely new form of external stimulation thanks to its unusual design. The specially designed mounds in the centre are precisely adapted to the shape of the female anatomy around the clitoris, vulva, perineum and anus and enable pinpoint stimulation. This is controlled individually by hip movements, leaving the hands free for additional playfulness. And the intensity of the vibrations is conveniently selected with the accompanying remote control. The box with its large viewing window, high-gloss finish and magnetic closure rounds off the overall aesthetic appearance.
“We are incredibly proud to be nominated for the German Design Award 2022 with this product,” says Mark Boderius, Head of Purchase and Product Development at ORION. “The first prototypes came from our in-house 3D printer, we then tweaked the shape again and again with further 3D models based on input from our internal as well as external product testers. We wanted to design a lovetoy that doesn’t necessarily look like a toy, that stimulates externally – anally as well as vaginally – but doesn’t penetrate the body, and where you have your hands free.” This is how the “vibepad” came into being in a long development process. It quickly became a bestseller and is now experiencing another highlight with the nomination for the “German Design Award 2022”. The “German Design Award” is one of the most recognised international design awards for product and communication design and has been presented annually by the German Design Council Foundation since 2011. The “vibepad” is nominated in the category “Excellent Product Design”. The winners will be announced in October 2021.
